OneInMath is a free, self-paced supervised program designed to
- help young children (K-3) master math skills and build a strong foundation in their early years, and
- help high school students to develop as better leaders as they enter college.
It is currently offered in ten public libraries spread across various states including CA, GA, IL, NJ, PA, and TX. Each library is managed by a session leader (a high school volunteer), with the help of several tutors (also high school volunteers). There are two sessions (fall and spring) comprising of 10-12 weekly classes in each session. The program is based on learning using techniques like pattern recognition, memory recall, rigorous written and oral practice, etc. The program is structured to enable an anxiety-free environment, and to build confidence and love for math.
The volunteers of the program have received several recognition and awards including President’s Volunteer Service Award, Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, NextUp Award, The Daily Point of Light Award established by the late President George H.W. Bush. Program also received commendation from Mayor of San Jose, Council Members of several districts, San Jose Public Library.
